Nicola Litchfield

One of Nicola’s key roles at GNS Science is as the administration of the Active Faults Database of New Zealand (http://data.gns.cri.nz/af/index.jsp), a publicly available GIS database. Nicola's tasks include entering and editing line and attribute data and responding to public requests. Nicola also has a continuing role in seismic hazard assessment in commercial projects. She has performed a wide range of tasks, such as: field trenching logging and interpretation, assisting with report writing, (including constructing figures), aerial photo analysis, trench log analysis, and some trenching fieldwork. In her work, Nicola applies a tectonic geomorphology approach to provide context to earthquake geology studies and seismic hazard assessments.
